علم البلاغة من أجل العلوم قدراً، وأدقُّها سراً ويشتمل على علم البيان والمعاني والبديع. فمن أحاط معرفة بهذه الخصال فقد كمل كل الكمال، ومن شذَّ عنه بعضها لم يبعد من النقص بما اجتمع فيه منها، وقيل عن البلاغة بأنها : تخيُّر اللفظ في حسن إفهام.
